HOUSTON, TX – A woman was struck by an SUV and killed early this morning as she sat in a roadway in northeast Houston, apparently overcome with grief for her recently deceased father.
According to News 4 SA, the accident occurred along the Beltway 8 feeder road at Woodson Park Drive, at about 1 a.m. According to the victim’s husband, the woman was distraught over her father’s passing. The couple were having an argument when the woman walked into the roadway and sat down, where she was hit by the SUV.
The SUV’s driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police, who do not plan on filing charges.

The collision was first reported at 7:10 a.m. Two vehicles were involved. It is unclear if anyone was injured.
Traffic slowed in the area until 10:43 a.m., at which point the wreck was cleared from the roadway.

Click2Houston reports that the collision occurred at about 12:26 a.m., near where Lake Houston Parkway intersects the Beltway 8 feeder road. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police investigations. Intoxication is not suspected.

HOUSTON, TX – Authorities have released details of a fatal crash involving a passenger vehicle and a tow truck in Harris County on Sunday. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at the intersection of Queenston Boulevard and Indigo Mist Court at about 5:20 p.m.
Investigators said Sue Gilchrist was driving a Ford Focus in the eastbound lane of Indigo Mist Court when she stopped at a stop sign before continuing into the intersection. Her vehicle was struck by a Dodge Ram tow truck driven by Shaandeep Bala, which was traveling at a high rate of speed.
EMTs who responded to the scene found Gilchrist with no signs of life. The sheriff’s office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the accident.

HOUSTON, TX – Police say a vehicle driven by a suspected burglar crashed into a home in west Houston and ignited a fire, the Houston Chronicle reports.
The incident began Thursday night at about 11:30 p.m., when officers saw the man break into a nail salon. When they tried to arrest him, the suspect took off in his truck. However, he lost control and was ejected from the vehicle as he turned a corner on Rockyridge Drive. The truck kept going and slammed into the garage of a home, authorities said.
The crash caused a fire that spread into the home and also destroyed the homeowner’s new car before it was extinguished by firefighters.
There were no injuries to anyone in the house or the suspect, who was eventually arrested. Police said he was wanted for a string of recent burglaries.

HOUSTON, TX – A suspect being chased by police crashed into a vehicle with a family inside in southeast Houston Wednesday, KHOU reports.
Police began chasing a pickup truck that was reported stolen, after witnesses said that the vehicle was being driven erratically.
The pickup ended up slamming into a Dodge Charger near the Gulf Freeway and South Wayside. A mother and her two children were in the Dodge but were not injured.
The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to face charges.

HOUSTON, TX – A man was found dead in the outer lanes of a northwest Houston road early this morning, the Houston Chronicle reports. A witness’s testimony suggests the man may have been the victim of a hit-and-run collision.
Police arrived at the scene in the 16900 block of West Little York Road at around 3:30 a.m., after receiving reports of the dead body. A witness told them that she had noticed the man stumbling in the roadway from her window and had gone to tell her husband when she heard a loud noise. When she looked again, she saw the man lying prostrate in the roadway as a vehicle drove away from the scene.
