Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Kuykendahl Road

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Kuykendahl Road on the night of Friday, July 31, according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Juan Pablo Medina Mendoza was hit by a passing vehicle near 16900 Kuykendahl Road. It is not known whether Mendoza was standing in the road or attempting to cross the street. The unknown vehicle did not stop at the scene and attempt to help the victim. He was found dead at the scene by police

An investigation into the incident remains open.

Pedestrian killed in fatal collision on the Katy Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was killed in a fatal accident on the Katy Freeway on Friday morning, KHOU 11 reports.

Authorities say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at Silber Road, outside of the I-610 West Loop. The accident reportedly occurred just after 5 a.m. and involved two vehicles. The victim’s identity has not been released.

Traffic was stalled as police investigated the incident.

Pedestrian killed in wreck in northeast Harris County

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was killed while attempting to move a tarp off the road in northeast Harris County on Sunday night, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The man was reportedly pushing a shopping cart near the 4200 block of Langley Road when he went into the roadway to grab a tarp off the road. He was then hit by a Chevrolet Colorado which then crashed into a nearby ditch.

The unidentified pedestrian was killed upon impact. The driver of the Chevrolet has not been charged.

Man killed while crossing IH-610 South Loop

HOUSTON, TX – A man was tragically killed while crossing IH-610 South loop on Sunday night, according to Click2Houston.

Authorities say the man was walking across the eastbound lanes of IH-610 near Almeda when he was struck by a passing vehicle around 9:14 p.m.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Pedestrian struck and killed by pickup truck

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports that a pedestrian was killed in a collision with a pickup truck on the night of Friday, June 5.

The office reports that the driver of a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck, Larry Kiel, was traveling near 9000 John Ralston Road when he struck Brandon Curtis, who was standing in the middle of the road for unknown reasons. Curtis was declared dead at the scene.

Kiel was not injured nor did he appear intoxicated. Investigators have ordered a toxicology report on the victim in the hopes of determining why he was standing in the middle of the roadway.

The case remains open.

Pedestrian killed while attempting to cross I-610 West Loop

HOUSTON, TEXAS – A woman was killed after being struck by a car while attempting to cross I-610 West Loop on the morning of Sunday, June 7, according to KHOU 11.

The woman reportedly had been dropped off by a rideshare driver when, for unknown reasons, she attempted to cross the freeway on foot. A passing driver hit the woman and promptly exited the freeway to contact authorities.

The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

Woman struck and killed while crossing Texas 249

HOUSTON, TEXAS – A woman was killed when she was struck by a car while crossing Texas 249 on the night of Wednesday, May 20, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. 

According to the office, an adult woman was crossing the highway near West Road when she was struck by a passing vehicle. The office also urged anyone with information about the incident to call the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Unit at 713-274-7400.

The victim has not been identified.

UPDATE: HPD issues press release on fatal Southwest Freeway crash

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Police Department has issued a press release regarding the fatal Southwest Freeway crash that took place yesterday, Wednesday, May 20.

According to the memo, a pedestrian was running across the main lanes of the highway when he was struck by a passing Cadillac DeVille. He was killed upon impact.

Authorities found the victim’s disabled vehicle on the side of the road and believe he may have been trying to avoid his car being towed. The driver of the Cadillac remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Fatal car accident near Lawndale, man pronounced dead at hospital

HOUSTON, TX – A fatal accident occurred at around noon last Saturday, at 7000 Lawndale Street.

The victim,  a 76-year-old male, was struck by a black Kia Optima while trying to cross the street. He was rushed to Ben Taub hospital where he was then pronounced dead. According to the first-responders, the man did not appear to have the right of way. The driver of the Optima remained at the scene and complied with officers. Although the investigation is still underway, no charges have been made yet.

Pedestrian Critically Injured in Motorcycle Accident

(HOUSTON, APRIL 2020) – KHOU reports that a pedestrian and motorcyclist have been hospitalized with injuries after an accident that occurred at 9:45 pm on Sunday, April 5, 2020 on FM 1960 at Cali. The motorcyclist, who had right of way, struck the pedestrian in the middle of the road. The pedestrian was airlifted with critical injuries. The motorcyclist also suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. No charges have been placed yet.
