UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Pierce Street drunk driving crash

HOUSTON, TX – A suspect has been arrested in the Pierce Street drunk driving accident that killed one on Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department.

The suspect, 26-year-old Ivan DeJesus Gil, was driving a Dodge Charger while intoxicated on the North Freeway. He then took the connector ramp to the South Freeway, eventually striking the highway’s concrete barrier. The Charger then fell off the highway, hitting a tree before stopping at 1900 Pierce Street.

A passenger inside the Charger was killed upon impact while Gil was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He was found to be intoxicated at the time of the accident and now faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run in south Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run in south Houston on Tuesday morning, KHOU 11 reports.

The motorcyclist was traveling near 5100 Shaver Street when it was hit from behind by a four-door Toyota truck. This caused the motorcycle to crash but the driver of the Toyota did not stop. One witness reportedly helped the victim after the crash. He was rushed to Clear Lake Regional Hospital with a serious leg injury.

The crash remains under investigation.

Three hurt in northwest Harris County collision

HOUSTON, TX – Three individuals were hurt in a collision in northwest Harris County on the night of Sunday, August 2, according to KHOU 11.

Authorities say the driver of a Hyundai Sonata failed to yield to a Ford Expedition at the intersection of FM 2920 and Kickapoo Road. The vehicles collided, ejecting the driver of the Sonata onto the roadway. The unidentified victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and two passengers were rushed to the hospital in unknown conditions.

The driver of the Expedition fled the scene following the accident. A woman was left behind, who claimed to be his wife. The crash remains under investigation.

Man crashes pickup truck after being shot by gunman

HOUSTON, TX – A man crashed his pickup truck after being shot at by a gunman on Sunday night, according to KHOU 11.

The pickup truck, which was driven by a father and contained his girlfriend and child, pulled up to a red light on Parker, along with the driver of a sedan. An individual inside of the sedan then pulled out a weapon and fired at the pickup truck. 19-year-old Luis Balthazar, the driver of the truck, was hit in the head and then crashed the vehicle. Luckily, his girlfriend and child were not hurt.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for surgery. Authorities are on the hunt for the gunman, who fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Woman dies in southeast Houston crash

HOUSTON, TX – A woman died in a crash in southeast Houston on Monday morning, according to Click2Houston.

The woman was driving her vehicle near Gulf Freeway and Telephone Road when she, for unknown reasons, lost control of her car. She crashed into a tree and was killed instantly. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.

Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Kuykendahl Road

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Kuykendahl Road on the night of Friday, July 31, according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Juan Pablo Medina Mendoza was hit by a passing vehicle near 16900 Kuykendahl Road. It is not known whether Mendoza was standing in the road or attempting to cross the street. The unknown vehicle did not stop at the scene and attempt to help the victim. He was found dead at the scene by police

An investigation into the incident remains open.

Suspect on the run after multi-vehicle wreck on the Katy Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – Click2Houston reports that a suspect is on the run after a police chase ended in a multi-vehicle wreck on the Katy Freeway.

The chase started at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway and the driver refused to stop. A pursuit ensued, which ended when the female suspect’s car crashed into a rideshare driver near Greenhouse road, killing 40-year-old Bismark Asare.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle fled the scene. The male passenger was detained by authorities but the female driver has not been located. Police believe she fled the scene in a black and white Jeep. Alcohol may have been involved.

Possible minor killed in fatal southwest Houston collision

HOUSTON, TX – A minor was tragically killed in a collision in southwest Houston on Sunday morning, Fox 26 reports.

A silver sedan was traveling northbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a group of trees near 8200 West Sam Houston Parkway South. A passenger was thrown from the vehicle and was killed upon impact. He is believed to be a juvenile.

The driver of the car was seen by witnesses fleeing the scene on foot. He is also believed to be a minor.

One killed after car flies off Houston overpass

HOUSTON, TX – One person was killed and another was critically injured when a car flew off a Houston overpass on Saturday morning, according to the team at Fox 26 Houston.

A 2020 Dodge Charger was reportedly speeding on I-45 North when the driver attempted to merge onto the exit for State Highway 288 South. The vehicle then flew off the overpass, hit a tree, and rolled over several times before finally coming to a stop. The driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A passenger did not survive the crash.

Medical staff determined that the driver had been intoxicated at the time of the crash. If he survives his injuries, he will likely face intoxication manslaughter charges.

SPRING, TX – One person was arrested following a DWI accident on Emerald Pathway Drive on the night of Friday, July 31, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash took place at 1800 Emerald Parkway Drive around 11:59 p.m. that night. The crash was reported as minor and an unidentified suspect was taken into custody by constable deputies.
